Open letter for a moral and healthy future for children

To: the Ministry of Education and Science, the National Assembly, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria and all responsible state and public institutions.

Subject: Urgent need for deep reform to build an educational and upbringing system that guarantees a moral and healthy future for Bulgaria’s children.

We write as concerned parents, teachers and citizens. Schools are too often reduced to dry grades and tests, while their core role — raising a human being — is forgotten.

We say NO:
- to violence and aggression — physical, verbal and digital;
- to drugs and vapes in school.

We say YES:
- to cultural and moral values;
- to empathy, respect and ethics as a priority from grade 1 to 12.

We ask the institutions for:
- real classes in ethics and emotional intelligence, led by specialists;
- zero tolerance for violence and drugs;
- support for extracurricular activities — art, sport, volunteering;
- teacher assessment based not only on tests, but also on classroom climate.
